Libya's leading the 7am news bulletin on Seven Sunrise - with a report from ITV's Tim Ewart!

...and now they're live in Tripoli with NBC's Jim Maceda. Do they actually have any reporters of their own...?

or NBC correspondent Tim Ewart according to graphics

BBC News Channel covering Washington conference, Sky News LIVE with more shots being fired

EDIT: Sky now has a split screen, does the BBC have a split screen?

Is there any reason why Ben Brown has only done Lives from Tripoli for the National bulletins and hasn't done any live pieces on the BBC News Channel/BBC World News simulcast?

Ben Brown did quite a few "lives" on World/Channel simulcast yesterday.

CNN simulcasts have been a big ratings success for them in the US so they just keep on with it, even right now with Isha Sessay and Carol Costello.

Sky News claiming that a tornado airstrike was aborted earlier today due to civilians on the ground, including a CNN crew who were broadcasting live and Reuters journalists.

Might be a bit of a dense question, but in practical terms does anyone know what 'reporting under Libyan government restrictions' means ?

I mean are the reporters escorted around with a Libyan government official, are they with them off camera ? Do they have to vet what is being said ?

BBC's foreign editor Jon Williams clarified this earlier today,

While movements of foreign reporters in Tripoli are restricted, there are no restrictions or censorship of what we say on air from #Libya

While the idea of CNN domestic and CNNi producing joint coverage for stories like this is a good one, it is bizarre when the presenters start having conversations, interacting and almost interviewing each other about the situation. CNN's coverage just seems to be lacking something.

I think the BBC, Sky and AJE have all done a very good job this evening. Tim Marshall has, as ever, been superb on Sky News and their coverage overall has been top notch.

Ben Brown is now presenting from Tobruk.

Agreed. It is absolutely awful to watch and completely unnecessary. They nod and smile at each other as the other talks and it's almost as if I'm watching two mates have a chat about the news in Starbucks. A horrible, horrible way to watch the news and actually really doesn't engage the viewer.

Technical question: Sky seem to be the only big international broadcaster able to go to Tripoli at just about any time with a proper live feed rather than a streaming/webcam type set up. Is there a reason for this?

I believe this is Jon's first OB's since his injuries sustained while on his way to his last OB (Budget).
