From the webcam image, they seemed to have changed the print on the left hand wall slightly, however looking closer it looks like a faint image of a fake newsroom, that just happends to follow the shape of the wall. Those projection screens do look terrible on screen.
I will be disappointed if they continue that have the same background on those back projection screens - it looks absolutely awful on close ups. I don't think the screens are that bad but placement of the sofa in relation to them and also the 'resolution' of the skyline since they changed to a Lightwell-esque backdrop doesn't do it any favours.
Would be a shame to lose the versatility of being able to display anything to a standard static backdrop as other regions have changed to though.
Nottingham have always had a try at something different. The initial corporate look lasted just over a year before they switched to having the whole programme from 'soft' chairs (first region to do so). However, the launderette was easily the best look.
The 'night-time' slide on the webcam at the moment goes to show how old that camera is up there - it's older than September 2002 I would guess, as the set shown in the background of the slide doesn't have the red panels in the studio. The older set also seems to make far better use of the limited studio space!
I suppose that the lack of any notable fanfare on Friday's 6:30 about "a new look on Monday" etc was a warning sign that there wouldn't be much of a change? I don't think EMT even gave it a tiny in-passing mention at the very end, or anything, did they?
It was only mentioned on Twitbook etc, not on EMT itself.
