I think it shows how many BBC correspondents already cover that region - Barbara Plett and Zafar Abbas were both on the scene very quickly. With Lyse getting there very quickly to do stuff for World and News 24.

Well there's a news special on BBC N24/World now with Lyse Doucet live in Islamabad.

Impressive how BBC News 24 and World can overlay their own graphics whilst doing a simulcast, and they can play out their titles too.

Her intro to the bulletin at 12.00 reminded me of the "War on Terror" after September 11th. Lyse anchored bulletins from Islamabad at 17.00 every evening.

Interesting to note that as far as I can see, this is the reverse of the Tsunami- BBC are on the ground in Islamabad doing live specials, yet Sky don't appear to have any live capability yet.

I was surprised as I thought SKy had invested loads of cash in having an Asia office/correspondent.

Yes, Richard Bestic is based in India and Dominic Waghorn is based in China...

ITV's Bill Neely is now in Islamabad.

Indeed - and Richard Bestic made it from Delhi to Islamabad by yesterday (albeit without live capability?)

On the other hand it took ITV until this evening to get anyone on the ground - Bill Neely dispatched from London. Early reports on Saturday were voiced by John Irvine who covers Asia from Bangkok.

A little bit banal, but why are certain Sky presenters prounoucing Pakistan as "Parkistan?"

According to my dictionary, it's an alternative pronunciation- and if I remember correctly, the "proper" one. David Shukman also uses the alternative.
