Yeah, up to 1000 dead apparently. Have a look at BBC News online - has anyone noticed the massive headline before?

This is the first time the splash front page has been used, it's been waiting on the system for the past few weeks for a major story.

Also at a quick glance at the coding it would appear the BBC News home page has been converted to CSS.

Looks like at the moment BBC News 24 are giving the most coverage on the events, with the ticker being used when they go on to other news.

A few screen captures (to be added to)...

No no, he doesn't mean the backdrop used for the BBCi headlines feed - he meant the interactive newsroom where a correspondent stands next to a tall table in the style of the BBC News desks, and there's an LCD attached to a pole alongside it.

Yep, it looks so cute :S Its also with a lot of smaller minitors hanging behind and one apparently looked like its with the BBC News Video window or something. Looks really high tech though. Smile

Quite like the interactive studio, very nice and small. It also looks very professial. Do they still do the Have Your Say 2.30ish thing from there?

I know this is nothing to do with TV news, but I felt it was worth the mention. Apparently 18,000 people have been killed including 400 kids.

And to stay on topic, how are the news channels covering it?

This proves once and for all that there is a hierarchy of death. Imagine if this had happened in California - we would never hear the end of it both in the media and on here. Will Jeremy Thompson be dashing out there as we speak? Somehow I very much doubt it.

Well there's a news special on BBC N24/World now with Lyse Doucet live in Islamabad.
