DW-TV Germany

After 2 months of wait, DW-TV Journal has been transmitted to 16:9 SD and it also mean that all of DW-TV programmes are now in 16:9, except in other countries which you will have the black bars.

Darn... why don't they just make it 14:9!?
Oh I remember... some of their Graphics are not on 4:3 safe area...

I believe that DW-TV is being shown on BSkyB as well, is it on 16:9 or with the bars?

DW itself has been in widescreen for a while, The Journal hasn't though (and they've had all kinds of interesting issues with aspect ratios, at least on the AP version).

The DOG doesn't look quite right, IIRC it used to line up with the straps.

These types of posts are becoming incredibly annoying.

Is DW now correctly flagged as 16:9 on their Sky broadcasts? I've been getting increasingly annoyed by the large amount of 16:9 stuff flagged as 4:3 on the channel. At least I can flip my TV and force it into WIDE mode - those viewers with 4:3 sets have no such luck...

It seems to happen a lot..I watch it via our ISP and always assumed it was an issue at their end - 4:3 shows (like, until recently, The Journal) would be stretched to widescreen and I'd have to correct it manually in VLC.
