BBC News 24 is the best. One of the many reasons is that they're are several well educated journalists and newsreaders on the channel who've attended top universities.
Oh please. What is your fixation with so-called "top universities"?
What? so Oxbridge, the University of Edinburgh and the University of Leeds and many other universities which the newsreaders / journalists of BBC News 24 have attended are not top universities. Well that shows how much you know.

That's not what I was saying.
Why do you have such a fixation about the academic background of presenters and reporters?
The BBC do not have a monopoly on well-educated staff, as you seem to be inferring.
to be honest, i rather like too think that presentation being of paramount importance is something us brits have steered cleared of....
but as usual my patriotic feelings cloud my judgement...
wouldn't it be nice if news networks were credited on their objective stance on coverage and their search for the truth..... instead of who managed too get the pretty pictures first.
But i won't pretend for a second too believe that there are nearly enough intelligent people in the world too consider that of any importance
Have BBC News 24 been in for the running since they rebranded.. it's a completely different News24 to the one that last went for the award, this is asuming the award is for the time up until the November of the year, so for 2003 it was before they rebranded.. correct me if I'm wrong please.

I know it's off topic and I can't belive I'm getting involved in a debate like this, but here we go...
The university which a journalist attended has little effect on their journalistic skill. In my limited experience, the non-academic skills posessed by journalists are often far more important. Common sense, a naturally "journalistic" writing style and intuition (in other words, a "nose for news") are crucial, and to a great extent these things cannot be taught.
The assertion that the university from which a news channel's journalists gained their qualifications is pivotal to that channel's success is absurd.
And without getting into a debate about "good" universities, I think I have a pretty good idea of what Winifred considers to be a "good" university. So on that basis, it's probably worth reminding her that Sian Williams got her degree from Oxford Polytechnic (as it was then), and this is not intended as an insult to that or any university on my part.
Further, I'm sure there are a number of BBC journalists who did not attend university at all, and I'm not just talking about junior reporters. For example, I have seen no evidence that Bill Turnbull even attended university (although I don't know this), and he started his career in local newspapers.
Back on topic, the change in News 24 over the last year since the relaunch has been astounding. It used to be dull, staid and frankly difficult to watch. Now it breaks news fast and effectively, and provides (in my opinion) virtually unrivalled analysis of the big stories.
