Chris Jansing has had enough:

What happened was as it was an NBC/MSNBC simulcast NBC ran out an ad break midway through Morgan Chesky’s report. So MSNBC decided to end it and I guess she expected them to cut to the anchor on before her. She came out about five minutes before the report for MSNBC (likely because she’s much more known than the relatively new to MSNBC anchor). I assume at the end she expected them to cut to the anchor. But with everything being run on a skeleton shift they cut back to her who obviously was frustrated as it was cut off. She comeback to anchor the 11 PM and 12AM hours. Once my computer finishes transferring and encoding everything (a ton of video from the space launch) I will try to make a side by side video of the two broadcasts.

Also a Channel 9 Australia reporter was apparently arrested at gun point.

Yesterday MSNBC’s Ali Velshi was shot at and hit for no apparent reason.

I watched the special report on MSNBC and I remembered after they went to commercial break after the special report, they had brought up Joshua Johnson from the previous hour to take over coverage. Chris Jansing was just on air on the channel for around 20 minutes.

I assume Chris Jansing was anchoring from home and the gallery (control room) had problems with connecting to Chris' talkback, hence you heard some kind of device (I think it's a landline phone?) besides her "beeping" at the start of the special report. So they just brought on Joshua again in Studio 3A...

The start of the special report I found on YouTube and her device "beeping" that I was talking about:

^ Unbelievable. This is happening in the USA. I’m constantly having to pinch myself to believe this.

These riots aren't new, they do happen from time to time and don't forget we had something here which seemed as unbelievable about 10 years ago. I think the real alarming thing is the apparent lack of leadership though.

I can see that journalists might be shot or arrested accidentally in the chaos of it all but most of these incidents seem like a deliberate attack on the media.

Worth remembering this all stems back to a man being arrested over a suspected counterfeit $20 note - you'd have thought by the initial reaction of the police the "crime" was much more serious than that.

This is what happens when you have a vaccuum in leadership and the arrests and attacks of the media are very concerning, but also just as concerning are the arrests and attacks on the general public. It does frustrate me in circumstances like this journalists go with the "but we're press" defence - even if they were not press the arrests and attacks we've seen this week shouldn't have happened.

I have to say, and IMO - it’s totally unnecessary and insulting for Wolf Blitzer to be anchoring a Sit Room special between 1-4 or 5 EST, removing Frederika Whitfield from the schedule altogether.

Yesterday John Berman took the a slot. Ana Cabrera with much less experience than Whitfield carried on incredibly well for a marathon 4 hours before Don Lemon took on.

I’m just not a fan of CNN drafting in Wolf over stories such as these. Leave it t to the news anchors not the chief political anchor.

Rant over.

It really feels different to me this time compared to 6 or 10 years ago during the Michael Brown protests or Occupy. People feel more emboldened to criticize and attack "the media," and that includes people both on the left and the right. Trump's erosion of trust in the media isn't isolated to one side. What's also different to me is that there are public voices openly defending violence and looting, and I do think Trump has also emboldened many police departments to have a much more vicious response than they had before.
