CNN covered it from inside the building, quite scary to watch at times, with the potential for things to turn really bad, thankfully they didn't get as bad as they could in the building lobby, and the protest has moved away from their building.
Some very brave reporters out there in Atlanta, Minnesota, and Brooklyn among other places I'm sure.

I've had a look at the other Atlanta channels and the CBS affiliate has been the best by far. The Tegna owned NBC station branded as 11 Active is relying on analysis inside the studio and shots from rooftops.
For a market like Atlanta, I'm surprised that only Fox own their own station, the others are operated by other groups.

This is spilling over into more than just CNN (most of the comments on our CNN thread are also referring to other stations).
One scene showed police firing pepper spray directly at a news reporter and her crew, the whole thing caught on camera in Minneapolis.
Meanwhile, the CNN Center HQ in Atlanta is also under fire from protestors (lobbing stones/bricks). CNNI have been covering the attacks from inside their building in what has seen the glass frontage of the CNN building damaged. Police attempting to cordon the building have also been attacked.
These are worrying developments. At what stage do the station bosses make the decision that the safety of their people is far more important than broadcasting live from the scenes and pull away, against keeping the cameras rolling and allowing the world to see in real time the situation that is unfolding.
Any journalist would swing towards the latter, naturally, but at what price?
Interesting that POTUS didn’t refer at all to these events or to his online comments during his presser yesterday. China, WHO and Hong only.
From what I’ve seen this morning, all news outlets are leading with this story this morning. Covid has been knocked off the top spot for the first time in months on most of the channels.

For those that don't know, the Atlanta Police Department has a precinct inside CNN Center.
Who'd have thought.

That makes more sense, I was trying to work out why CNN were getting attacked. Seemed an odd target in the circumstances

From what I understand nowadays, CNN usually only broadcasts from Atlanta on weekends, most of their output is from New York. There's some back office staff at CNN Center because of some CNN operations and also Atlanta is home to most of WarnerMedia's broadcasting management, presentation and technical staff at the nearby Techwood Campus.

Yep the only output that comes from CNN Centre for CNNI/Domestic is the weekends (New Day & Fredricka Whitfield's slot for Domestic and most of CNNI) and on weekdays John Vause and Rosemary Church's shifts (and during the pandemic the extra hour that Robyn Curnow does).
