The long running US documentary series COPS has been axed by Paramount Network (US). Apparently they had Season 33 in the can, but has been dropped.

I'm surprised it survived being parodied so effectively by Reno 911:

First time I've watched it on the BBC, bit annoying having the BSL bloke blocking the slides.

Not if you're hard of hearing. It's the bloody point if being a public service broadcaster.

Yes, and as pointed out the BBC 1 version is free of the BSL signer. There was a time when the BBC 1 versions of NC broadcasts were also free of much of the on screen clutter, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside in recent years

Yes, it is clutter . Gets in the way of the small print on the Powerpoint slides (and often the x axis labels) on the Gov Briefings, and is generally a distraction, repeating the same old stale headlines over and over again. Instead of hogging two full resolution SD and HD channels with the same picture, it would be useful for one or the other to have fewer graphics. It used to be called viewer choice !

Totally agree on the clutter comment. I like the current graphics on the whole but the red strap used for breaking news in particular is horrendous.

Appears even at the funeral they managed to include footage of the wrong black man, which was then subsequently broadcast by many news organisations.

How odd. You would've thought that whoever was organising the funeral would've done some basic fact-checking of images... and would they not typically only use images supplied by the family?

You'd be surprised by what images families supply for funerals. I could well believe it was supplied by them and didn't get spotted until the actual service.

How often did it run? I remember More4 picked up a few episodes the weekend after broadcast but they were three hours long and ran usually until 2am on a Monday morning so they were bound not to do well. I was under the impression that it wasn't a weekly kind of thing and even if it was they would have at least shut it down for now.

A&E used to do marathon sessions of Live P.D. as reruns, that's how important it was to them.
