The right decision, I think. A good call not to show the noose being put on at 6pm tonight.

It is going to be filmed if you've been watching the news. Itll be documented on film from when he leaves wherever he is to when he's hung .

I hate to be pedantic, but you've been unintentionally amusing here Very Happy

There's a difference between a man being hanged, and a man being hung Laughing !! People sentenced to death via the gallows, are hanged. Pictures, paintings or men with big penises are hung Wink A grim distinction, but one to bear in mind I'd say Cool

On a serious note, what are the exact rules set by Ofcom, regarding the showing of real-life deaths/executions?

I have seen footage including the actual hanging - a clip of a video on the net taken from the staircase leading to the gallows (looks like a camera phone)... it is out there somewhere (albeit on an arabic website which makes will probably make it difficult to find).

Not that shocking really he just disappears through a hole - looks like a magic trick more than an execution

It's on Google Video at the moment. I don't think I'll watch it though.

I can't begin to imagine what that must feel like. To be standing there with a piece of rope round your neck, knowing that you're about to die.

Maybe Hussein then knew what other people had been through because of him.

I preferred his last trick when he made all those weapons of mass destruction just disappear! Laughing

I don't think he got the full experience of what he did to others because if I remember correctly, after the fall of his reign, ITV News showed footage they recorded of people showing the reporter one of his hanging 'chambers' (shall I say), and it wasn't rope, more like a big metal spikes thing that also hangs. I won't say any more, it's an awful thought that makes me cringe.

Well I am shocked they allowed people in with camera phones - the actual moment of death should never had been shown by anyone.
I have just watched the full thing. Not plesant and I dont ever want to see it again.

You thought it was that bad? It was quite quick and civilised compared with some other things that I've seen in the past!

I saw it at work, but if you look on Google Video it is there.

I never cease to laugh at people who write statements such as:
