I remember Sarah on C4 News. More than capable to fill Brillo's shoes.

She started on C5 News as a reporter. John Smith, the labour party leader who sadly died in 94 was her father.

Bit of a car crash opening to the Daily Politics today with a presenter i've never seen before who can't seem to read autocue, so went to her scripts and seems to be stammering all over the place and looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

"can't seem to read autocue" - nice rush to judgement there. Maybe it break down or had some other problem?

Anushka Asthana has presented DP as far back as Monday.

The presenter is also who covered for Allegra Stratton on Peston on Sunday during her maternity leave.

To be fair, I caught her presenting last Friday and I thought at the time she seemed to struggle slightly with the autocue - it was the tail end of the programme so just the 'the One o'clock news is starting over on BBC One' lines yet it was a bit jumpy and there were a few awkward pauses mid-sentences. Asthana's day-to-day job is political editor of the Guardian so perhaps she's struggling with autocue and talkback at the same time?

Some slightly different presentation from Sunday Politics today with new presenter Sarah Smith. Apologies that my caps are SD, but I record the South West version . . .

At the start of the programme she narrates an agenda using a similar cube to that on BBC World News "Talking Business"

and when the English regions rejoin Network it's done with a nice "zoom out" of the logo to time with the music on all 6 screens in the desk area.

Has the title sequence been amended to change the Brillo-centric mock newspaper cover(s) that briefly appear?

It felt like a completely different show today - Sarah Smith is a very competent presenter and interviewer, but it was just meh. Brillo's personality was what made the show. Her "are you Theresa May's Willie?" quip just fell flat.

Lets give her a few weeks to see if she can get into the role. Also doesnt NI and Wales go back to PS? or do there have 37 mins opt out like Scotland?

They actually did! I don't remember exactly what the old front pages had on them but there are now two papers, 'The Daily Politics' with a photo of Andrew Neil and Jo Coburn on, and then 'Sunday Politics' with a picture of Sarah Smith on.
