It's not so much the visuals I dislike, but the music which sounds like a cheap Channel 5 daytime gameshow. What's wrong with a serious theme? The last Daily Politics theme was pretty good.
I don't understand this obsession with trying to make people watch politics by cheapening the seriousness of the programme. I mean, This Week has never been that much of a serious digest of politics but it had a certain amount of credibility for the first few years.
If you haven't already seen it, go and watch Charlie Brooker's 2011 Wipe where he superbly points out that he isn't allowed to use footage of parliamentary proceedings because his show is classed as comedy/satire whereas a programme like This Week is able to.
If this is supposed to be a satirical joke about the "Political Machine" its going to get very old very quickly.
I appreciate the thought and effort that has gone into the graphics themselves, the idea behind them is very misjudged, and the music is aweful and doesnt suit the programme at all.
The old music was absolutely perfect.
...just seen that one of the headlines on the newspapers says "BBC Programme in trouble again"
I don't think the title sequence is that bad, although it is quite long for what is essentially the same idea repeated several times for the different letters.
The music is the issue, the old theme was much better, more appropriate to the subject and quite catchy, this is very dull in comparison.
