I always think it looks a bit odd anyway as the screen is obviously not going to be directly in front of the presenter and there are going to be some cameras somewhere. I'm sure there is a reason why they couldn't (can't fit it all in shot for example), but I think it'd look better if they used the smaller screen next to the large rear-projected screen for these DTL interviews, or the larger screen itself if there aren't guests sat in front of it.
I noticed yesterday that the Daily Politics has got a new desk which is kind of like the Studio B desk but with the front of the DP coffee table in front of it and just looks quite odd. Is this new or am I just really unobservant. I'm guessing if it's new then it was installed after they replaced the Budget desk.
Ooh that is an odd one! As you say it looks like the height adjustable desk from Studio B, but with the front of the riveted Daily Politics desk in front of it! This Week are using it without anything in front of it in the lowered position, and like Daily Politics, they've also taken out the rostrum. Looking at iPlayer it appears that they changed the desk and took the rostrum out last weekend, with the new desk appearing on Monday.
A bit tight in the Daily Politics studio for a five-way debate, but actually looks alright (even though Andrew Neil has to remain sat down):
