Someone was a bit trigger happy pressing the opt out button today, cutting Brillo off in his prime.

What was more surprising that it was London that was trigger happy, causing the 'London' titles to appear first then a few seconds later, the 'Midlands' titles popped up!

(I'm guessing all regions were caught out, not just Midlands?)

Yes happened on BBC One HD too - it looks as though the timings were out as there was a good five seconds of silence and a hold on the titles when opting back.

I've nothing against Andrew Neil and think he's one of the best broadcasters around but was thinking today that is it really a good thing that the BBC's three main political programmes on BBC1/2 are all presented by the same person.

To be fair, though, he doesn't present every edition of The Daily Politics. I think Andrew Marr and Question Time could also be considered main political programmes (arguably more 'main' than DP and This Week, both of which are not in prime time slots) and he isn't involved in those at all.

Interesting to note that one of Brillo's regular panelists, Isabel Oakeshott, is not involved in today's show.

I assume this is down to her being involved in the Chris Huhne court case this week, possible contempt of court maybe?

(And for the benefit of the smart a**es on here, who might say in reply, she's on holiday this week, ok fair enough, but it seems convient that she's off this week, of all weeks!)

Would I be correct in thinking that the regional opts will be live this week, as none of the presenters will have had chance to record this weeks opt due to local election coverage?

(Based on West Mids presenter being live in Stafford today for Midlands Today & no usual pre-recorded clips)

Again are the regional opts live this week, as there were no recorded clips shown on Midlands Today?

Why did they invite a notorious conspiracy theorist to a respectable political show?
