Todays show was from College Green due to a power cut in Westminster (not just the BBC Studios affected). Good job it was a nice day!!!

I think it came from a Sat Truck too, rather than the usual inject points at college green as they are all routed via Millbank, which presumably had no power at all. Given that Millbank Studio 1 is the reserve studio location for BBC News should there be problems at Television Centre, shouldn't it have diesel generators?

Yes, it should...
The same power problems took BBC Parliament off air for a while this morning.

Considering it is a backup source for the loss of television centre, rather than the loss of one studio there, and there is some capacity potentially at Broadcasting House, and previously at Marylebone High Street I don't think there is a massive need for diesel generators. Have to consider the risk against cost.

In an ideal world probably - but where on earth would they go??

ISTR that the lack of secondary power took Millbank off-air catastrophically during an election programme a few years ago - and since then all election programmes have come from TVC instead?

I don't think Millbank is speced to be resilient, just to be a secondary location.

That's right and until the power returned we were left with Emily Matlis presenting from a pub.

Anita Anand has left to return to radio. Wonder if she will be replaced or if Andrew will go solo. Jo Coburn could cover the occasional time he is unavailable, as well as doing Fridays

And there will be a special Daily Politics on Tuesday from around 2pm with live select committee coverage on BBC2

As ever the Daily Politics remains the best programme on daytime TV

Out of interest where's your source on her leaving?

Edit: I see there's a video of her highlights on the DP website (linky).

Interesting to note the box in the top-right hand corner reads:
Quote:
RECESS: The traditional editions of Daily Politics will return on Monday 5 September with Andrew Neil and Jo Coburn

Edit again:

And this article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/13473851 states at the bottom:

Quote:
When the Daily Politics returns on Monday 5 September, it will be presented by Andrew Neil and Jo Coburn.

So I'm guessing that's Jo Coburn to full-time.
