No wonder Sky got News channel of the year, BBC have many correspondants all over the UK, and many camera crews, Sky are based in just London and they already have live pictures.. pff

Good to see the breaking news bug has gone, seeing as its not breaking any more. Unlike Sky who it seems are still breaking 2 hour old news.

Nah, still breaking..

Still these less garish, more subtle graphics are really working tonight, very slick and polished but complimenting the footage, images and phone calls as opposed to how it used to be - getting in the way, covering pictures and appearing/disappearing. Definate improvement there.

I watched some of the BBC News on BBC One, at 10 and it was just a telephone conversation over a static photo of the train on the left and the picture of the reporter on the right.
I tuned into ITV News at 10.30, and they did excellent! Very well done to them, ITV Border reporter live at the scene, people on the phone etc. Also Gerraint seemed to handle it well ..

thanks from Andrew.

Sky News have Live pictures showing the train on its side.
BBC News 24 still has the Breaking News strap along with Sky aswell.

Good pictures, shame about the blatent bullsh!t commentary from the presenter. "Obviously some officials will be here, and they will work with other officials who are well, being official... etc"

I find turning the sound down and using subtitles is handy in these circumstances.

Can't help but think it would be handy if someone had remembered to bring a tripod as well..

I think Gillian is doing very well especially on her own.
Sky are slowly picking themselves back up, with live pictures where as BBC News 24 still have the map.
Will be intresting to see how the overnight bulletins pan out.

I remember someone posting earlier in this thread that the ITV News website hasn't got a report on this piece of news. I've just looked now and can't find a report on it still!

No wonder ITV and Sky did so well at the RTS! It really is ridiculous with all the regional teams the BBC have around the country, they are beaten firstly by a broadcaster who probably has a news budget half that of the beeb and secondly by a much smaller news organisation based in London!

Yep, it is a tad stupid of BBC not to have at least a live camera there. That BBC exec told BBC's news I think around 8:45, nearly 3 hours to assemble a live camera crew, already a correspondant there too..
