Ok coverage from ITV Border, understand this could be the biggest news story for them since 1988 (Lockerbie) but concern and interest for the regional people- like the old days of ITV regions.
Martin Lewes is a very long serving reporter for BBC Radio Cumbria. He has been there for years and a very experienced reporter.
Looks like ITV Border are quite a way from the actual scene. Jane Little said it took her ages to get there on foot and was talking about ambulances getting stuck in the mud etc.
I don't know if I heard right but I believe its the driver and carriage 1 where the people are stuck. I don't think BBC will get a live feed as there isn't much to see except ambulences etc.

The floods a couple of years ago could have been a big story.... but the weekend it happened they had no power and didn't get on air

They only know people are stuck in carriage 1 because they are unable to get to the other carriages yet.

I don't think that there will be cameras there until tomorrow morning at first light, if they go now they will just be in the way of the rescue operation. As regards to the train hitting something, itv seemed to be very quick to jump on this bandwagon. Although the BBC have said that Passengers thought that they may have hit something, they then had a spokesman from Network Rail who said that a train decelirating at that speed, would feel like it has hit something, so i do not think that this statement by itv is very accurate.
However both Sky and BBC News have mentioned the possibility of a broken rail being responsible. I have also itv very slow to get off the mark, there was no sign of the Breaking News department getting into action, as when i checked the web at 21.30 there was nothing even mentioned on the itv News website.
Dispite the news channels best efforts, ITV seem to be the most on top of tonights coverage, with ITV Border live on the scene already.
It's times like this that it's a pity the ITV News Channel isn't still around. The next live from the ITV Border reporter live at the scene is 5 mins at lunchtime tomorrow

Seems its a pantograph style train (no 3rd tail) but the power has not been turned off yet, very odd.
It'll be emergency backup power. There are no 3rd rails anywhere outside of the South East
