Caroline Thompson, the BBC Exec that was on the train, was just talking to Huw Edwards on the Ten.

Gillian took over from Allan at 10. I would of thought Allan to be more experienced in this type of situation.

Think it was a wrong decision of News 24 to leave Tim single handed after 10 - Chris Lowe should have stayed over, or they should have got someone else in.

That BBC Exec is doing alot of repeating what she's said. Counted 5 times between N24 and Ten.

They have replayed her conversations on News 24.

Re: BBC NE&C

I think BBC NW have reporters in Cumbria, they have a South Cumbria Correspondent, Peter Holland.

(3) 6 carriages (I believe) only 1 derailed and apparently only 100 people on board - seems it could have been much worse.

Well I take all that back then, 9 carriages now and most of them derailed according to Mark Simpson. Maybe now he's there information will flow a bit more freely.

Yes he's a North West Tonight reporter. His office I believe is situated in BBC Radio Cumbria...

Martin Lewes - Who is this? He's on NWT now.. 'reporting from the scene.' Never heard of him.

They've just got a news correspondant over there: Mark Simpson. He'll be going on air on N24 soon. This is why I'd like to be a journalist, even though this is a very sad event, breaking news is exciting, you're there to develop the story.

News 24 have a strap that is erronously saying this happened between "Lamberton and Grayrigg". Presumably they mean Lambrigg, not Lamberton of which the only one I can find is near Berwick-upon-Tweed.

ITV first to be live from the scene - so much for rolling news channels!

Dispite the news channels best efforts, ITV seem to be the most on top of tonights coverage, with ITV Border live on the scene already.
