Paraphrasing: he wished the PM well, and his question was that the PM and the HS have got/had the virus, some of the key people who need to lead the country have got it. How has that been allowed to happen?

Seems like a pretty good question to me.

What were they meant to do, go into a sealed bunker. Poor question!

Better than interrogating the Foreign Secretary about whether he has the authority to take emergency decisions.

Interesting interview aired now by BBC News with Theresa May. She spoke like a Prime Minister! Explaining the functioning of the cabinet and thanking the health service for their huge efforts at this time.

She sounded rather more authoritative than anyone else in the cabinet currently.

I agree. There was much criticism of Theresa May following the Grenville Tower disaster. She spoke with the fire service and the other emergency services and not with those affected. As stated at the time, she wanted to be sure that they had the resources that they required to get the job done. With hindsight, that’s an admirable quality for a Prime Minister - to put emotion to one side and think logically. To think practically.

It would be nice to have somebody with more experience and a little more emotional detachment (less gung-ho) at the reins at this time.

Mark Austin - "The PM has got the virus, the health secretary has had the virus and the chief medical officer has had the virus. The three people telling us how not to get the virus got the virus. How was that allowed to happen?"

The bit at the end about how it was allowed is simply crass beyond belief.

I’ve been waiting for this question to be asked. All three have said we should socially distance etc and yet they themselves appear to have failed to follow their own guidance. Given the actions of the CMO in Scotland and the Health Minster in New Zealand, it’s hardly surprising that a journalist asked the question.

Anyway... I hope everybody here is ok, following the guidance and staying safe.

Social distancing does not guarantee you won't get the virus.

I didn’t say that it did.

No-one is safe from the virus. Social distancing is designed to lower contact between people so as to reduce the possibility of contracting the virus. Its the same with any virulent disease.

Exactly, and it’s probably quite hard to isolate as much as many of us have been doing when you are at the front end running the show is expected to pop up all over the place with various different people, even keeping 2m apart from all those different people.

I can understand. I have a background in journalism and radio presenting and being in a small studio with someone can at the best of times be uncomfortable.

You switch from a radio studio to a tv studio. Multiply 2 by a few hundred and add a highly virulent disease in the mix and....
