Most Regional news progs now seem to have competitions.
Do people think this is a good or bad idea?
Do they enhance the output or is it another way to raise money for cash strapped local programming?
ITV West gave away a car recently. What has that got to do with local output?
Granada and BBC North West regularly give away tickets for local sporting events which at least can link in to the Sport's output.
Should the BBC do it at all?
Are ITV just doing it as a desperate way of raising cash?
Do you think viewers tune in for the competitions or do you think they feel ripped off?

Well, of course it is a money-making scheme but they could make it a bit harder but not always having the answer as B!

Having watched several ITV Regional News programmes, I have noticed that on 4 out of 5 occasions the answer is B! Problaby its a joke, seeing as the questions are so darned easy and its a premium number.

Not very often, but they do occasionally, especially just before the Evening News on occasions...

Channel News also has a break quite often.

Some days, if there has been an un-scheduled un-interupted programme on, they put a break in between the end of the regional news programme and the start of the Evening News.

P.S. Channel News / Channel Report is the regional news on Channel TV - ITV for the Channel Islands

Thought it might have something to do with the Channel Islands. When you say an uninterupted unscheduled programme, are you talking about something such as ITV'S Target London special news programmes?

Now don't forget to phone in or text your view on this to 0960 99 99 99 (costs charged at £50 per minute plus or £100 per text) or write your answer to the following on a £50 note to Charles Allan, ITV Regional News Funding, Granadaland.

"Should ITV Regional news be funded by the gullible text/mobile addicts?"

A Yes
B No
C The question's too tough

Those answering A get selected for the exclusive mandatory daily panel of competition/opinion phone-ins.

Those answering C are to give their names and addresses to our chief advertisers.

Don't forget, those phone lines are open until we've funded the next sick child story...

Rob (going off for a lie-down).
