A few months ago I had to drive very early on a Sunday morning and was surprised to hear a Sky News bulletin on Absolute Radio at 5:00am. It was unusual as you don’t hear Sky News being referenced, as most of the bulletins are read by Absolute newsreaders and reporters are often quoted as ‘our reporter XXX’, even though they are Sky’s reporters.
I'm sure Magic 105.4 uses the direct feed from IRN from the 20 00 bulletins as they end with "From Sky News, I'm xx". At other times, they now end with "That's the latest from Magic, I'm xx". As both Absolute and Magic 105.4 are owned by Bauer I would have presumed the pattern was the same.

That particular ending signifies the fact that those bulletins are NOT the live IRN/Sky News feed, but a system similar to what Radio Newshub uses, where pre-recorded bulletins are dropboxed into the playout system. IRN does this for out of hours bulletins as well as the live feed.

If Asa, Bail or Charlie Wells had found it appropriate they would have moved the discussion to a new thread by now.

Pardon me from asking a question I shan’t flounce off but good to know the attitude of others on this site.

This is how forums work. Conversations spark other conversations. If it gets too off topic it'll be split into a new thread.

VMPhil explained it best - threads will naturally go off topic from time to time. Just raise it as an RTP and we'll usually split it. PS - no need to RTP 13 times to cover each post - just put in your first comment for us to look at the remaining posts!

Works better than another forum I am a member of. Any off topic chat is immediately slapped down with members forced to start a new thread, which never really quite works, as an off topic chat by its very nature might be insignificant.

Also topics that are assumed to be exhausted or about an event that has already happened, are closed and locked.

Yes, it's similar for Jazz FM, weekday mornings the bullitens are often read by Zora Suleman, presumably they appaer on some other Bauer owned stations ? Off peak, Sky branded bullitens from Osterley.

IRN have supplied Magic with bescope bulletins since 2003 when ITN had the contract.

That arrangement ended several years ago - Bauer produce Magic’s bulletins themselves during the day, and take the pre-recorded Sky News Radio/IRN service off-peak.

Jazz FM, Scala Radio and Planet Rock all share the same pre-recorded daytime bulletins.

Ugh, the thread's been split, but my post at the top wasn't about radio news! Confused
