CNN has finally updated their famous THIS CNN BREAKING NEWS stinger. Its certainly more flatter than the previous version and many of the light flares have been removed. The best part of the update is they have changed this hideous full screen graphics they used for breaking news. The previous backgrounds used behind the presenters was so dark and the weird floating "cage-like" things used to irritate me. This is soooo much better. The movements are the same...almost. Its ok. I dont like how the BREAKING and NEWS dont line up. But the retain the same voice over and music. And its still very dramatic. They should bring the Darth Vader voice of James Earl Jones.

About time. Much more in line with their current format. Does anyone know if it's being used on CNNI?

Yes. It has changed too.

Glad the weird background has gone, but actually preferred the more polished animation on the previous version. The new one feels a bit cheap:

I really don't like the new background they use. It's completely static and visually makes no sense.

I think they've taken inspiration from Domestic's Newsroom graphics.

They've been using a different, much better background during the weekend. It's not static and has more gray in it.
