Classique!! I loved CNN back in those days. Late nineties was my most favourite era. The days of Juanita. Fionualla. Becky. Shihab. Bettina. Chris. Ralitsa. Veronica. Marina. Charles.

Help me out: the European Breakfast slot was initially anchored from both London and Berlin. Bettina in London. Chris Burns in Berlin. (If I’m not mistaken).

Then came Juanita after her short stint at BBC World. But there was another lady who also anchored that slot from London occasionally. Can’t remember her name.........

I don't think Bettina was ever based in London. I recall her moving straight from Atlanta to Berlin. When the Berlin studio was eliminated, she served as a Berlin-based correspondent for a while before leaving CNN.

Ah, you’re right. Now I remember. The programme was co-hosted between London and Berlin, and Bettina and Chris alternated week on/week off as the Berlin anchor.

In fact, wasn’t that very newscast also Hala Gorani’s entry point into CNN London after moving from Atlanta?

I still find CNN London output to be far more watchable than anything that comes from Atlanta.

And the programme that comes from Abu Dhabi has grown on me.

I think if we're all being honest, the non-US output from CNN International is almost always more watchable. I find CNN Domestic shows pretty much an instant switch off, though the CNNi stuff from Atlanta was/is usually OK.

The CNNI stuff from Atlanta has also dipped in watchability, IMO. London is excellent in everything it does. I wonder why that is?

I was looking forward to London taking over, as it was speculated a few years ago. But now we got the total opposite.

Except for Michael and Amara (who make for a great team and get to use the fancy big set), I don't really care for the rest of the Atlanta output. Plus that depressing, basement looking set they still use.....

Prue Lewarne?

Quote:
Lewarne served as an anchor for CNN International (London) 1997 - 1999, Deutsche Welle, CNBC Europe (London) 2001-2003, Bloomberg Television and Sky News Australia.

She also appeared as an anchorwoman in the films The Manchurian Candidate (2004 film) and Superman Returns (2006).

Natalie Allen and George Howell are a very good team, too. I really like them.

And when Karen Maginnis does the weather, it’s just pure nostalgia - the great 90s.

George Howell gets on my nerves.
