Speaking of the election (and when don't they!), CNN has extensive coverage of Trump, his rallies, speeches, tweets, burps, etc. etc. But what about Biden? At this stage of the election year in 2016, there was coverage on both Democratic and Republican candidates. They mention Biden from time to time but I would imagine that he must be campaigning in some way in the US. He can't just sit at home until October!
All this Trump heavy coverage is just stirring his (fan)base and encouraging them even more to come out in support of him come November.
Am not American, have no say, no influence but am curious.

They did the same 4 years ago, Trump got a lot more coverage than everyone else. They would often have the podium that he was to speak from on screen for up to an hour. When it got down to just himself and Hillary things improved but He still got loads more coverage than her.

I guess it comes down to ratings. CNN's coverage of Trump draws in the viewers.

Not any time soon I’d imagine since any CNN memos to staff seem to suggest people not returning into the office for a while yet. And CNN will surely be more election heavy and so continue with simulcasts all the way as the year continues.

I can see Hala’s show still remaining too as she’s one of the main CNNI presenters. But I do fear for Max’s show, The Brief and YWT - even before the pandemic it was almost a running joke how often YWT would be pre-empted for TSR or a simulcast for any old reason. It felt pre-pandemic that CNN almost wanted an excuse to dump some of their existing International shows. Wouldn’t be surprised if some shows ‘do not return’.

Max's show isn't going anywhere. They've just produced an extensive Max Foster Promo that airs on International and Domestic.

Is that the 'To Open Doors' advert as while that's Max-focused it doesn't actually refer to his bulletin (I think Robyn Curnow had something similar)? And of all the London programmes Max's one is probably one of the lower profiles ones as it just has the Newsroom branding similar to the Atlanta overnights whereas all the other London shows have fancy names/title sequences etc. Plus Max still has his royal correspondent role.

Max's previous CNN Talk role probably felt a higher profile role to me (especially as he still had a Newsroom bulletin on top of it) - it's a shame they got rid of that show actually as it was something a bit different and worked well.

Well Trump is actually having events. Biden is mostly doing pre-recorded streams from his basement. It's clear what TV can cover here.

He does seem to stumble on his words a fair bit these days.

Yes it is just a generic 'trust CNN'-type promo, hence it being able to be used on both domestic and international.

Sorry for delay, ok vacay!

The promo is Max Foster specific. It’s nothing like a ‘hello Robyn, hi Robyn, etc......

I’ll try find it as soon as I get a second

But then again, I guess you can say mistakes happen.

The difference is that you regularly get corrections and apologies from News sources like the BBC. Mistakes do happen but they can be forgiven if there's an attempt to correct them. I haven't seen or heard an apology from CNN in years.

Plus to make 3 major mistakes and 2 huge omissions on one Graphic is some doing. If a 10-year-old did it on a school project it would be an automatic fail. (and you could say there are more mistakes when it comes to wording and grammar, I won't go throwing stones in that area at this time of night Very Happy )
