Wonderful seeing Isa. One of my favourite CNNI anchors. Hopefully, she’ll be on more in the coming weeks

She’s back on today on CTW - filling in for Hala who is on Becky’s usual slot.
Good to see Isa back on screen again. She’s really grown on me since she got the YWT gig.

I see the CNNI red breaking news flipper is back. I haven’t seen it for weeks.

From what I understand nowadays, CNN usually only broadcasts from Atlanta on weekends, most of their output is from New York. There's some back office staff at CNN Center because of some CNN operations and also Atlanta is home to most of WarnerMedia's broadcasting management, presentation and technical staff at the nearby Techwood Campus.

FWIW, I'm surprised Domestic's operations haven't been moved out entirely from Atlanta into the Hudson Yards and/or Washington. It just makes sense to have master control and production staff for that network co-located with their programmes. Same thing with International where they could move them entirely to London (except for business news shows which can stay in NY). They can keep HLN, CNNEE, and CNN.com headquartered in Atlanta, though.

How come CNN Worldwide hasn't taken such steps to move Domestic and CNNI to New York and London, respectively given that most of their respective programmes originate from there anyway?

CNN en Español is gradually shifting to Miami as it’s head of output. I wouldn’t be surprised if they move to a larger space with an actual studio to create a new Miami HQ (Their current setups are cramped).

It has a lot to do with how things are set up technically. The CNN Center is still the 'epicentre' of all CNN operations. It's much bigger than either Washington or Hudson Yards, so I assume it was easier to set up social distancing there.

Mouseboy posted this article back in early April where the staffer explains most production has now run out of Atlanta. The control room in New York is still out of use. It's flash studios only.

Please excuse any typing errors. I am on my third butterfly keyboard (Mac). An update is due the minute what I want is released. Smile

As far as CNNI goes, things went in the opposite direction last year; some London production roles were moved to Atlanta

Although most of the CNN Centre presenting is limited to weekends and US overnight/Europe morning hours and most hard news programmes emanate from London for the rest of the day (including the late night YWT which is also billed as a morning programme for Asia).

The Situation Room has broadcasted at another odd hour yesterday, starting at 10.00 ET (15.00 UK). And what's sad is that due to the breaking news, CNN was forced to cancel its Sesame Street Town Hall.

On a separate note, the "world weather bar" is back on New Day.

A shame - those Sesame Street Town Halls are certainly a more useful exercise than the Cuomo brothers comedy hour (complete with props like giant ear buds) or airing a live golf tournament.

CNN Brasil is being heavily criticized for not doing overnight coverage of breaking news events (especially the US protests, even though they could use the resources of CNN USA, despite being a franchise rather than a subsidiary). Also, they're ending live coverage on Sundays at 7pm BRT, to air CNN Original Series marathons (presented by Evaristo Costa, who famously left Globo's midday newscast, Jornal Hoje , became a social media personality and now lives in London), featuring CNN USA and CNN International miniseries and original CNN Brasil documentaries, and not returning live until 6am on Monday.
