CNBC Europe is launching a new UK opt on Monday with an hour-long UK specific programme, Strictly Money, airing every morning at 11am and presented by Ross Westgate

This unfortunately means the end of Power Lunch Europe (or Credit Crunch Lunch as its' been styling itself for the past few months) - viewers on the continent will get US Squawk Box. (It appears it will be a raffle as to what Irish viewers get - viewers on Sky will get the UK opt but unsure yet as to what cable/MMDS viewers will recieve).

It also means that CNBC Europe pan-European programming is now down to a measily 4 hours a day (I think they had eleven at the high point) - that is programming that is not co-produced with CNBC Asia or the US.

CNBC Europe is the producer of Worldwide Exchange, and the programme is controlled out of the London studios.

The programme may be aired on CNBC US, CNBC Europe and CNBC Asia, but CNBC Europe is the producer of record for the programme. In fact, it is the only regular weekday programme on CNBC US not to be produced by the US operation in Fort Lee.

CNBC new UK programme Simply Money started today. Actually it started late so we got the first minute or so of US Squawk Box before the Simply Money titles started. Both presenter nervous understandably which led to some cock ups. Initial problems with graphics and for a time you could hear sound from the gallery. Got better as it went on and should prove a very good programme

The Strictly Money anchor team. Ross Westgate with Clare Garnett. Ms Garnett comes from RT (Russia Today) where she was the business news presenter.

They are still suffering production problems on the Strictly Money programme. Today at 11.58 they cut away from the show while presenter Ross Westgate was asking the guest from ABTA a question, to show a bunch of promos. Presumeably Ross Westgate hadn't been told to wind the show up by the production staff.

I only have access to CNBC on Astra 1, and am using radio times data for my XML EPG Guide.

Is the EU version not carrying Simply Money, if so Ill need to look elsewhere.

Edit - Just checked my other source of XML data and they have it to, Ill keep it as it is.

Cheers

He probably had, but maybe didn't hear it too clearly. There was also the issue that CNBC UK and CNBC Europe were rejoining each other for a ECB Special programme straight afterwards, rather than joining CNBC US, meaning that Ross was on air for 4 hours straight today, in 3 different programmes. I remember from experience, doing multiple programmes one after the other like that, it can be very easy to lose track of where you are and what show you are supposed to be doing.

No, its aimed at the UK only. Having said that its also being carried on both satellite and (according to my EPG) cable in the Republic of Ireland, a consequence of ROI providers using the UK feed (which makes sense, it gives us the correct time on the clock as we use GMT/BST, not CET).

What is aired in place of it then, I guess my other XML data is not correct.

While Strictly Money is on in the British Isles the rest of Europe gets the first hour of US Squawk Box.
