There's been quite a bit of changes to CNBC's international channels today, with new schedules for both CNBC Asia and CNBC Europe:

First of all the big news, after being starved for many years and having over 50% of its programme time taken away (Wake-Up Call Asia, Power Lunch Asia, Asia Market Wrap and CNBC Tonight all being axed), CNBC Asia has two new studios and three new programmes!

* Squawk Australia, airing from a new Sydney studio, from 11pm-12 midnight (5am-6am HK time).
* Cash Flow, replacing Asia Market Watch, running from 3am-5am (10am-12 noon)
* Capital Connections, another variation on the Worldwide Exchange theme, but this time without US involvement and also replacing Today's Business on CNBC Europe. Airing 5am-6am (12 noon-1pm) Maura Fograty and Steve Sedgewick are presenting. CNBC Asia graphics are used.
* CNBC Asia Squawk Box has been revamped and is now dual presented by Martin Soong and Amanda Drury.

They've also dumped the virtual set - a new studio in Singapore for the first time in ages, with the newsroom as the backdrop. They've also gone the whole hog with the revamp, changing the music to the US music (they kept the previous ones in September) and gaining new astons to match the US refresh of last December.

Over at CNBC Europe, less dramatic changes. As mentioned above Today's Business is gone, but they've also cut European Closing Bell to 1 hour (4pm-5pm) and extended Europe Tonight to an hour. This will mean Street Signs will no long air on CNBC Europe, although US Power Lunch will air in its entirity. There's been some slight pres changes, Europe Tonight has new titles and is now using the old Street Signs theme.

Europe Tonight is re-airing at 22.00 BST pushing Tonight show to 23.00 BST, where an edited version will only run for 30 minutes, and there is no Conan on weeknights.

Here is some video of the new CNBC Asia taken from YouTube (CNBC Plus)

Why have CNBC Europe moved the Tonight Show with Jay Leno to a 30 minute edited version at 11:00pm and they have dumped Conan O'Brien?

I love the shows. It provides an alternative to the trash we see on BBC or ITV on a late night.

Couldn't they have managed it better. For example:

10:00pm Europe Tonight
10:45pm Tonight Show with Jay Leno
11:30pm NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams
12:00am Late Night with Conan O'Brien

Does anyone else have views on this or another look to a propose schedule? Because it is a shame to see Jay Leno's show cut, no comedy pieces, like headlines, just stand-up and a harsh cut into the interviews? And No Conan!!

I agree. I've been running a petition that I'll be sending off to them in the coming days - www.lateshowuk.com/petition

We ran a petition before, and I emailed it to them - and that's why they put it on CNBC every weeknight - because of our old petition. Smile

Well, in fairness, CNBC is the Consumer News and Business Channel. Not the Consumer News and Late Night US Talk Shows Channel. I appreciate that lots of people like Leno and Conan, but they belong on CNBC about as much as David Letterman would belong on Sky News.

Not that I'm in favour of the late night repeat of Europe Tonight either. It only aired three hours previously, for goodness sake. Kudlow and Company should be aired in that time slot, with Squawk Australia at 23:00. That is the type of programming CNBC is supposed to airing. Leno and Conan belong on the likes of Paramount, not on CNBC.

Does anyone think Paramount could run the Leno and O'Brien shows.

At least they would be on at a daily basis at a proper fix slot with the full programme being shown? That is a good idea?

What does people think/

A consumer news and business channel they might be, but that's not what the letters CNBC stand for any more. It's not an acronym for anything.

If they were to show Leno and O'Brien, they really should show Saturday Night Live too obv. not live anyway

I don't like the way they have taken Conan off weekdays Confused

Conan's show was brilliant. Jay Leno is alrite but Conan's was a great evening's viwing, well at least he is on Saturdays and Sundays.

I am a business news man, but I do think having the talkshows at the end of the evening is needed as both London and New York Stock Exchange is closed for trading.

If CNBC would compromise and show the full Jay Leno Show and an edited Conan O'Brien show on weeknights, I think this would help.

What does people Think? Any other suggestions?

There has been a petition sent to CNBC and NBC to get the original schedule for Jay Leno and Conan to be back on CNBC Europe as before.

Will it help? What do you think?

What I personally don't understand is the need to repeat Europe Tonight at 2200, in a world with DVRs and online viewing - I can't see the need for the repeat at all. I think CNBC would benefit if they put the schedule back to the way that it was - Conan & Leno on before NBC Nightly News. I would also prefer to see all of the Asian programming (however I understand that there might be limited viewers at that time and if the poker is bringing in money, then I suppose you need to compromise).

What happened to Simon, is he is holiday? Guy has taken over both Europe Tonight and Closing Bell.

Also can I comment on Squawk Australia; thats the poorest CNBC show I have ever seen, the guy cannot present, everything is repeated many times and don't let me get started on the "studio."

I think they need a little bit more cash thrown at the show...
