They also appear to have dropped Asia Squawk Box in favour of paid for programming up until about 2am and the early hours of Saturday morning no longer bring us a glimse of MSNBC... The latter, in particular, is a pity cos "The Countdown" seemed quite bizarre but very watchable after a Friday night out!!

Having seen a couple of the US CNBC promos, I’ve realised how crap the UK choice of music really is. Has to be some of the worse cuts of the new theme package there are and why do they continue to play the old music? I always thought this was the ultimate faux pas when revamping graphics and music.
I wonder also if the LSE merges with the Deutsche bourse and moves to Germany, would we see CNBC Europe following suit?

Phew, it's not only me that's been slightly pissed off by that programming change then.
Sporadically, the MSNBC.Com website, uploads the latest 'What have we learnt?' quiz.
I was going to e-mail CNBC europe about this, but I doubt they would read my e-mail.

CNBC Europe do seem to have trouble letting go of the old music. Which is good, cause I like it! Do agree some of the edits of the US themes are bad. Worst of all is Squawk Box's, which leaves out most of the melody, in favour of just the beat and the end notes. That "7:00am-10:00am" thing on the titles is still annoying, six months later.
As for an LSE-Deutsche Bourse merger, doubt it would have any impact on CNBC. The LSE would still exist anyway (just as the Amsterdam, Paris, Lisbon, and Bruselles exchanges continue under Euronext), it would be just the same as Euronext where the different exchanges are run under one company (although I would suspect the LSE might adopt the XETRA platform - the ISE in Dublin already runs it and they are not even owned by Deutsche Bourse.).

Have a slight problem with CNBC Europes studio. Although it has been "revamped", it is nowhere near the standards of CNBC USA , nor CNBCS ASIAN virtual studio. My suggestion? CNBCE should copy CNBC US and move out of town to a big campus. It could be shared with NBC and Dow Jones NewsWires. It would also provide a better scope for introducing MSNBC Europe some day. We can only dream
....After all where CNBCEs current HQ is on Fleet Lane, Which is nowhere on most maps
:
: . Hope they move to somewher like the Docklands where much more land is available for your money...Thoughts people?

MSNBC EUROPE! That would be great! I did once mention it here, along with the suggestion that programes like DATELINE, TODAY AND NIGHTLY NEWS should be shown as they are on NBC! But someone did once say that MSNBC and NBC News are sort of trying to be two different things (unlike BBC News 24 and BBC World).
it would be great though!

Well, CNBC US did spend millions on a massive studio revamp. I doubt CNBC Europe would be able to afford the multiple sets that CNBC US can.
The CNBC Europe set does compare very favourably with Asia's though - it is a small virtual studio with a smallish desk. At least CNBC Europe have that videowall which they put to really good use (even better than CNBC US did when they had one). The Asian set (and CNBC Asia in general) is definetly the poor relation to US and Europe. But remember, CNBC Asia has multiple langauge channels under its umbrella (Nikkei-CNBC, CNBC-MBN, CNBC-TV18 etc). wheras US has only one feed and aside from Italy (CFN-CNBC) and Turkey (CNBCe), CNBC Europe has also just one major feed.

I agree rdd that CNBC Asias desk is small but I definately think that a better studio and indeed facilities for CNBC are urgently required. After all since the channels launch no real effort has been made to refurbish the newsroom or indeed give them better equipment -
ie new computers made after the mid 1990s
. Youve got to admit though CNBCAs' "wee desk" is adequate sized for its market and it is flexible as the desk is used for all programs which all feature different scenes like
Market Watch
with its scene of Singapore. I also prefer CNBCAs' market desk. The one for CNBCE is TINY and everyone is expected to 'crowd' round it on shows like
Skuawk Box
(or europe skwauk box as CNBC contradict themselves by giving it 2 different names).

So are the old european closing bell graphics except they are in the new colours. This is what I hate about CNBCE, they made a half hearted revamp and didnt even go corporate!!!!
