Bill always presents Breakfast on Christmas Day, and I actually think he quite enjoys it.

It will be interesting to see who throws their hat into the ring to present the national bulletins on Christmas Day this year.

Most likely it'll be Darren.

Who was it last year? I recall Anna Ford presenting one day but I'm not sure whether it was Christmas Eve, Day or Boxing Day.

Cant imagine Darren presenting on Christmas Day as he has young children.

I thought she presented on New Years Day. I know it was Darren on Christmas Day last year, with Sophie on Boxing Day.

On Sunday 18th it reads that BBC1 will see Simon McCoy at 5.45 and Fiona Bruce at 10.00.

If we do see Simon at 5.45, will this be his first time presenting a BBC ONE bulletin, excluding Breakfast.?

No, he's done a weekend before, in the pre-election set.

Can't remember seeing him do a weekend but I have seen him do a couple of daytime updates.

He must have been reading this, he's on now, the RT has Fiona down for tonight but I expect it'll probably be Simon again.

As for Christmas Day, it was Darren last year, George the year before and Huw in 2002. Anna Ford didn't present over Christmas last year (she wasn't on the One for most of December either with Darren and Sophie presenting), she did Boxing Day two years ago.

Are they trying out Simon McCoy just to see if he can do a BBC One Bulletin or what? He was on at 5.45 only to be replaced by Jane Hill.

Consistency?

Here on BBC World, it has more or less been business as usual for the last couple of years, and the anchors who are normally presenting their regulars slots continue to do so. IIRC, Nik Gowing was on last year, and Lyse Doucet certainly was the year before. Lindsey Brancher too was a couple of years back. Anita MacNaught also appeared during one of the last two years in her then regular slot.

Jane Hill always used to pop up on the 1-4pm slot on News 24 on Xmas Day. And i think Maxine always used to do the 9-1pm.

Jon Sopel, Peter Dobbie and Matthew Amroliwala have also done Christmas Day in recent years, IIRC.

Notice that after Christmas ITV News seem to be using two presenters per day rather than the usual one presenter does all three that usually occurs during holidays

At Christmas its quite normal for news bulletins to be shown at different times to normal, but on BBC1 the news is being shown at some very strange times.

On Christmas Eve, the early evening news is at 3.40pm

On Christmas Day, there's a bulletin at 6.50pm and then one just two hours later at 8.50pm. I can't see the point

On Boxing Day, the late evening news is at 7.45pm. Very early for the last bulletin of the day!

Just got the new RT and am not sure who's reading the news on BBC ONE on New Year's Eve (no name given).

Peter Sissons is on on New Year's Day (next Sunday)

George Alagiah doing Bank Holiday Monday.

Back to normal from Tuesday but with Natasha taking a holiday (she'll probably be tired after hosting New Year Live! Rolling Eyes ) and Sian on the Six all week with George and Huw away also, so Fiona on the Ten .

As for Breakfast : Simon and Kate both on on New Year's Eve and Bank Holiday Monday with Simon on his own on New Year's Day. Dermot is off the rest of the week and with Sian on the Six , Bill and Mishal are on the rest of the week.

No names given at all for ITV News (sorry ITV fans!)
