And here's the titles from 2004 (not chaged much last time I watched). Notice the huge old Channel M DOG.

Channel m news

Haven't seen it for a while now, and not seen the 9pm news at all, may have to watch in the next few days...

Those were the days, when they recorded it usually at something ridiculous time such as 2.00pm. It's still the same staple of items, but the coverage has improved, and the 5.00pm edition is also Live now, but yes as you say the normal titles still remain.

This must be 100th post about the bloody programme now.... Laughing

Due to the Labour Party Conference in Manchester, they've added an extra Channel M News to the schedule (Sunday 8.00pm) because of it, and it's been pretty good, though most of it was there to show the Question and Answer session with Tony Blair that both Channel M and the Manchester Evening News have been promoting for a couple of weeks now. More bizzarely the Q&A Session was hosted by Bob Greaves!

Plus there was a nice 'Tea and Discussion' between Blair and Andy Crane just asking aload of Manchester related questions and aload of pro-Manchester answers, but never the less it was good, and certainately more than what BBC North West and Granada have done.

There are new - and separate - titles for the 5pm and 9pm programmes now.

All very 3D and shiny. A bit 80s.

There's also a new breakfast show launching in January 2007. They're currently doing a major recruitment drive for it in our local newspaper (and presumably all GMG-owned titles).

I heard about that sometime ago, it's good to see they've given it a date for launch, it'll be interesting to see what they will fill it with, I'd have guessed something on the lines of a mix of Music Videos and News. Shame they can't back onto a Radio station as they're more informative in the morning. Closest GMG have on their hands is 100.4 Smooth FM.

The 5pm titles are the same as the 9pm ones, it's just the theme tune is now what I can say is the next one up from the old one. Nice to see a change at last...

While, I can't say for sure what they're going to have on the new breakfast show, it's certainly going to involve news, sport, weather and travel as those are the posts they're recruiting for now, along with various floor jobs. I'm looking forward to an alternative to GMTV and the BBC. I just wish they could get it on a digital MUX. Maybe after analogue switch-off...

It is something that Ofcom are seriously thinking about, though I'd wish they'd get on and make a decision over it. Channel M is helped as it broadcasts on NTL and the biggest boost of confidence it's had by broadcasting through Sky.

On a slight OT note Manchester is getting another FM Radio station, Ofcom revealed the bidders yesterday, and it seems to be more of a mix of News based stations with bids from Emap's Piccadilly Talk, Chrysalis' GMBC (based on LBC) and GMG's RockTalk, it sounds interesting.

Byron Evans (normally the entertainments guy) standing in for Andy on the 9pm programme. He's got a suit!

I noticed, they polished him up very well, other than shouting out the Headlines, he was very good, I was rather surprised.

(I walked past him in Manchester City Centre last week.... Laughing )

I take it Andy Crane is off this week? Just out of interest who is doing the 5pm edition? Heather Stott I take it is still on BBC Radio Manchester then, I would guess Clare Fallon?

If you get a chance, see Stuart Hall's Christmas message tonight. It'll probably be on the 9pm bulletin too.

I've missed the 5pm, but I'll be seeing the 9pm, not like Stuart Hall to appear on any other day than a Monday. Cheers for the tip.

I have to say on the 9pm this week Sangeta has been far less annoying than Heather Stott, she goes quite well with Andy Crane.
