I think I've figured out what I don't like about the new double-headed Channel 4 News. Fundamentally, it still feels like Jon Snow is very much in charge so what was actually the point in making it double-headed? I know it's often commented that people dislike shots which show both presenters when only one is talking, but shots like that actually make the programme feel shared and double-headed. At the moment, it feels like Jon doesn't like the co-presenter so doesn't talk to them (I'm sure this isn't the case but that's the way it comes across with the shots). I don't think it helps that the desk looks separate too and that the second presenter has to move when there's a guest or a debate.

In summary, they should have either made it a true double-header or just stuck with the tried, tested format.

Is there any particular reason Liam Dutton is not doing weather forecasts at the end of the bulletins? He was in the studio being interviewed tonight so is clearly at ITN/Ch4 yet the forecast following the programme was the usual v/o by Kathy Newman.

Liam said on his first blog post on the Channel 4 News website that the weather forecasts would launch 'mid-December'.

I think Liam starts presenting the forecasts on Monday.

Indeed. It was a very run of the mill forecast really with none of that stupid box nonsense we were led to believe there would be. Graphics weren't fantastically clear I felt - the BBC's are better but C4's are an improvement on Sky. Shame the forecast wasn't done in the studio as part of the main programme though.

Weird lines fluff on the afternoon update today: see here [go to 02:20]- unless that was a rehearsal, uploaded by mistake. Laughing

Jon Snow and Matt Frei will be presenting C4 News again this evening. Is there any jostling for position evident? Or does Matt graciously blend into the background, acknowledging that the man with the colourful socks is, indeed, the maestro?

Looks like a rehearsal. Or at least, I hope so. If not, he should be sent to work in the canteen.

FYI... a new remix of the C4 title music was introduced this evening. Only the title music - everything else remained the same.

Hadn't noticed until he popped up this evening that Paraic O'Brien, formerly of BBC London, has joined Channel 4 News.

For more regular viewers of Channel 4 News than I, has Matt Frei co-presented the show from the United States at any point? I got the impression that was an idea they were considering for election stories, although that may happen closer to the main presidential vote.
