They'd be riots in the streets if that map appeared on the BBC.

In other news Dispatches is being cut to 30-minute slots, but will have 40 rather than 30 episodes. They also say Unreported World is moving from Fridays to "a prominent slot", which I'd be on being 8.30pm on Mondays.

Good on them for trying something new. Their present weather service is an obvious weak link; it's embarrassing in fact.

I think their map graphics aren't too bad at all - quite similar to the BBC graphics in some respects, which can't be a bad thing. Certainly better than ITV's dreadful 90's effort!

I don't mind the website too much - but I'm not keen on that map being used on-air unless it is used cleverly, breaking down into cities or smaller regions when zoomed in. I'll judge once I've seen it, but I think Liam Dutton is a decent signing,

Yeah, so this news in the middle of suspiciously ITV cookathon idea really doesn't work. Missed how it's introduced but the ending consisted of weather, looong ITN endboard hold, back to silent studio with mute presenter x and presenter y, realise they're on, cue dot, 15s banal banter, go to break.

Needlessly awkward.

What's this got to do with Channel 4 News?

Well I think he's referring to Channel 4 News at 12:15. So I think that's related to Channel 4 News.

I believe Jonny is commenting on the re-location of Channel 4's noon summary to 12.15 pm. I've yet to see it live, but I believe it's now somehow integrated into a cookery show rather than being a standalone bulletin.

Integrated, but only in the sense the presenters say that its time for a news summary which then begins with its titles as if it was a separate programme in the first place. It's really not the sort of programme that suits a live news update, its hardly topical tv, it's a cookery programme which is live because it can be.

Just seen the summary which is uncomfortably placed in C4's Saturday Kitchen rip-off Drop Down Menu, which is also made by Cactus TV. It doesn't gel at all with the cookery show and should return to midday.

I presume the thinking is to link into the next programme without having the news separate them. If this is the case, maybe a this morning scenario should take place with them saying part way through the programme that they'll be back after the news, and have the news air separately after adverts before going back to the programme.

I've decided I like everything about the new look, except the titles. Aside from the music being trimmed (for what? 2 seconds!?), the slider effect is crap - would look impressive as a JQuery slider, but on screen it's not at all impressive.

Put the previous title sequence back, then it'll be super.

I love the new look - the studio was great as it was, so all it needed was a refresh. The new presentation area and the injection of colour are my favourite new parts.

I despise the new weather map though.
