One more point, I wonder why the director chose to make her go through hell like that desperately trying to adlib when the closing theme is a full 1 minute in duration? They actually only played about 20 seconds of it there. It's not unheard of to have a long, slow closing shot in order to fill time. Personally, I think that would have been a better choice as that was just cringeworthy. Strange...

Exactly. They even had images over the music, so it's not as boring as a long studio shot.

Reminds me of Romilly Weeks.. although ITV News handled it better with a longer close.

Love that extended theme.

Incidentally, who is the other newscaster with Romilly?

That's Geriant Vincent- he used to do a bit of relief pressing back in 2008-2009 but now is mainly a reporter.

There's a bit missing from this clip - when the link from Trafalgar Square went down, they cut up the wrong camera in the gallery - but Cathy persisted in talking to the wide shot camera (perhaps because that's where the autocue was, not that she was getting much sense from it.) That was then followed by a very short VT of Andy Murray, and then the fluffing in the clip above.

Ooft. Channel 4 News leading this evening with a report about workfare company A4e, and a somewhat explosive interview with their former chairman. Her stance appears to be "you're wrong, stop bullying me". I hope Krishnan ends by pointing out that she's got his name wrong.

Nice ending to C4 News this evening, taking a less than serious look at the takeover of the 'Star Wars' franchise by Disney. Laughing

And people say C4 News has dumbed down - absolutely brilliant.

Did they deliberately mean to say "Channel 4 News was bought to you by........" rather than "brought to you by......"

A quick heads up:

There should be a short item on the 30th anniversary of C4N on tonight's bulletin. Think Krishnan GM is working on something ...
