With the last look Channel 4 News had a general title sequence without images from the main headline, used mostly for News at Noon and during the weekend.

So far with the new look Channel 4 News, all programmes I've seen began with images from the headlines - but for some reason tonight Channel 4 News used a "general" title sequence for the 7pm bulletin - and quite nice it was too.

Basically the images from headlines are replaced by three images of a world map - green on purple.

Not sure why it was used tonight - I guess the Mark Thatcher story had only just broken.

P.S. Loved the trailer during Richard and Judy - all done in Spanish!

These were also used for News at Noon today - so perhaps are the permanent titles for the bulletin, which in the wake of the Tsunami disaster had used images of the main headline.

While fine as an "emergency" title sequence - as it obviously was on Wednesday night - I'm not to sure about them being used permanently on the lunchtime programmes!

At the risk of being accused of being picky the word is "Generic".
They possibly use this as a background for headline pictures.
Most news company's have them so they can be used on non-specific programmes - "Specials" - that kind of thing.

I like the new - look to C4 News, but I preferred the old titles, they seemed a lot better, even if they were made back in 1998 !! I saw the generic titles, but I think having headline pictures in them is better.

I haven't seen News at Noon since the relaunch - does it still use a shorter version of the opening music?
