I too would like to see a second bulletin, if not at Noon then how about before the Countdown/DonD block? There's a distinct lack of news programmes on air at that time at all.

Would anyone really desire to see a news programme at that time?

Who's to say? At one stage Central News had a bulletin just before CITV I'm sure... but apart from that I think it's relatively untried ground.

I think the idea of people tuning in at lunchtime is a bit old fashioned.

Well yes ITV had an update at that time for many years and the BBC still (sometimes) does. But in this day and age I don't think it would really work.

Theres a difference between an update/headlines and a bulletin though. Headlines are suitable at most times of the day, but 3pm would be a bit of an odd time for a 30 minute bulletin

A couple of caps from the last 5 minutes of this set's last appearance - no mention of any changes on air.

Actually, you'll find that Channel 4 News doesn't look that different from tomorrow or for the next few weeks, save for a few tweaks.

I liked the "old" set. Despite its vintage, it always looked and felt bang up to date, IMO. Ahead of it's time, perhaps.

Thanks for that. Interesting that they've faked a second screen on the right hand side of the studio - was that because of difficulties getting the usual desk and plasma to look normal or is it to help the second presenter to be more involved in the program?

Would still rather see the cash spent on restoring some kind of News at Noon - even if it's a 15-minute bulletin. That said you can't begrude them a new set after 12 years - and it's aged very well with just a redress in 2005.

Not sure about the second presenter taking on a bigger role - I've always though the senior/secondary presenter combination worked well for C4.
