Quite strange Channel 4 News tonight, compared to other broadcasters. The entire programme was presented by Krishnan in Washington, with no handover to the studio for other top news stories.
Both BBC and ITV, usually handover to the studio, when doing a broadcast outside.
ITV News have done this occassionally. I cannot remember the event, but I remember Mark Austin anchoring the entire programme, and all stories, at a location relating only to the top story.
Odd, because in Australia that's what usually happens - they only go back to the studio for weather and sport. Having said that most of our evening bulletins are presented solo.
I really enjoyed Channel 4 News tonight. They had excellent in-depth coverage of every aspect of the inauguration - just as one would expect. They didn't over-complicate things with too many reporters - just Jon Snow and Krishnan in Washington and Samira holding things together in London. A really good programme.
On a presentation note, the C4 News theme sounded great being played over images from the day. It managed to strike the right note - serious and authoritative, while not sounding too sombre. That's what I like about it; it's suitable for any type of news.
Anyone else wondering why Alex Thomson has been presenting More4 news for the past week or so?! Is he just covering? They used to use the likes of Carl Dinnen as the cover on More 4 but he is co-presenting with Jon Snow tonight. Has Channel 4 become to mainstream for Alex?!

Hmm...I'd hazard a guess that he will be the main presenter whilst Kylie Morris goes on maternity leave....
I think Alex has obviously been overshadowed by Krishnan over the last few years at C4 News, but he remains an excellent newsreader, but I can't see anyone other than Krishnan getting the top job if and when Jon Snow stepped down.
