And that's it all over for More4. They had a nicely put together package there at the end of the last episode looking back at reports from over the years, before finishing with...well... the main headlines, but no point breaking the habit of 4 years.

They have more farewell tributes at their website (the whole lot on the programme went on for the last 10 minutes!). Not sure they got the graphics towards the end 100% mind. Razz

It's a shame that Channel 4 didn't really make the most of More4 News. It seems as though they never really knew where to go with it or, indeed, who it was aimed at. It started out as a programme which looked at issues raised in Channel 4 News in greater depth, as well as providing further interviews on the key stories of the day. However, by the end it was just a mini version of C4 News. Personally, I think they should have stuck with their original plan. It worked a lot better as an extension of the 7:00pm programme rather than as a standalone programme in its own right. In all honesty, though, I'm more disappointed that News at Noon has been axed. I found that programme much more useful. The ITV News is too late for a lunchtime programme, airing at 1:30pm, and News at Noon was a nice alternative to the BBC News at One. I believe C4 are keeping a short lunchtime summary but that will hardly be worth the effort of tuning in.

On a completely unrelated note, Channel 4 News has been a bit rough around the edges this week, it has to be said. On three occasions the autocue has seemingly failed at the start of the programme, Alex and Jon have fluffed a lot of lines between them and the main report on the Copenhagen summit in tonight's programme suffered from sound problems. Either the production team has been replaced with students on work experience or they've had a few too many Christmas drinks Very Happy

A bit strong don't you think? Extremely insulting to a very dedicated team. Live broadcasting can often go wrong.
Wannabees have all the answers don't they? I hope you won't be applying for a job in broadcasting anytime soon?

Erm, chill out. It was only a tongue in cheek joke. I happen to know some of the ITN production team and know how hard they work.

Good for you. I was only trying to have a little joke; it was hardly a scathing attack. Jeez, this forum is so up tight these days.

Agree with your sentiments on News at Noon - that will be missed. More4 News was doomed really from the minute C4+1 launched. Would be interesting to know actually whether C4 News on C4+1 got more viewers than More4 News.

Quite surprising too they haven't just stuck a Come Dine with Me repeat in the 8pm slot. Instead Deal or No Deal and Grand Designs are just pushed back half an hour, with The Daily Show remaining at 8.30pm.
