There is a thread. (I Think)
Two things. This forum (The Newsroom) is to discuss Branding and content not to say "Isn't the theme tune great "
Second, Can you use capitals on nouns please.

Capital letters should only be used with proper nouns - that is, names of places or individuals.
"Branding", "second" and "can" only require a capital letter if they appear as the first word in a sentence.

JJ, I agree with what you say. Channel 4 News has an excellent theme music - especially when they extend the time the music is played.
All its newscasters and correspondents are integral to their own brand. What I mean by that is C4N's total-broadsheet approach to news, which is lacking in other news broadcasters.

As Ben had said, they used a different (rubbish) theme at first in 1982 before switching to the current theme in 1983. The original cuts were edited from the full 3 minute theme and they lasted until around May 1995. The first re-working of the theme was done at that point. The main change was bringing it down to the current key (the original's pitch had been raised for the TX cuts). The theme was refreshed again in 1999 and finally in 2004/5. I think the current version of the theme tune is the worst of the lot; there are far too many sound effects and I think they detract from the basic theme. My favourite version is probably 1995-1999.
Did anyone see the close of Wednesday's C4 News? There was some fantastic camera work. The camera glided across the studio towards the big screen before making a sharp right and zooming into the atrium to look up to the heavens. Really good stuff. It's a shame that the creative camera operators at ITN are so limited with ITV News because there's only so much they can do in that VR studio. That's the advantage of having a real background - the atrium provides some great opportunities for creative camera work.

Despite being modified slightly here and there, am I right in thinking that it remains the same theme tune used since C4's launch?

I have never seen that 3min version on the music library: saying that I have only seen 3 different cut on there,
Is there any clips of the original short lived ch4 theme?

The camera work on C4N is always brilliant. More4 News is even more fun - I think there's a policy in place which prohibits a single stationary shot.

I agree. I watched the opening of More4 News many times just to see the opening camera shots.
Great stuff.
