Nothing more than a couple of lines, but a suggestion that C4 are likely to keep ITN as their news provider in an interview with ITV News's David Mannion on MediaGuardian: http://media.guardian.co.uk/broadcast/story/0,,1712919,00.html

Quote:
Although that methodology is not unique to ITN, it is what distinguishes it from Sky and the BBC, he argues, a point he is keen to develop. New sets, complete with huge 'news walls' have helped to do that. ITN famously brought Kirsty Young out from behind her desk when it supplied Five's news. It lost that contract to Sky, but its contract with Channel 4 should be renewed within weeks.

The afternoon previews are always very good - either using fantastic views of the atrium (and you can't beat the real view!) - or doing something highly sarcastic.

I haven't seen the 5:30 preview, but I always understood the view from the C4 News studio to be the "real atrium" anyway, as they actually converted office space into a studio and left the glass wall in place to provide the view.

I've always enjoyed C4 News, ever since it started. Because it has more time the reports seem to be indepth and authoritative. They've normally also had very good sets and graphics Very Happy

It is the real atrium (as far as I know), but in these previews more often than not the presenter is walking around the actual atrium rather than in the studio or newsroom.

Re: More4 News - I notice last night they had an exclusive interview with that historian locked up for denying the holocaust - so a pretty big scoop!

I think their ratings have crept up to around the 50,000 / 60,000 mark - which would be more than the average BBC News 24 and Sky News get. No idea how well BBC4 News rates.

Breakfast News
Noticed last night that the weather was back in the main programme, whilst it looks like it will be remaining ITN Channel 4 News.

Channel 4 News was the big winner at last week's Royal Television Society journalism awards. Staff will be celebrating again in the next few days when C4 renews ITN's contract. Fired up by C4 chief executive Andy Duncan's enthusiasm for all things new media, we will be seeing a lot more of Jon Snow on the internet and mobiles. More money will also be spent on screen, although the precise length of the contract is still being debated.
