I reckon people don't like writing about C4 because the names of the correspondents are too difficult to spell. (I've also noted a lack of threads celebrating the BBC's Gillian Ni Chealliagh).
It is my favourite news bulletin, even though I don't like Jon Snow. He once said he doesn't see why journalists should have to be balanced, which is worth debating. Richard Littlejohn says the same thing in this week's Press Gazette.
Aside from that, the breadth of their reporting, including unpopular subjects such as the Nepalese elections, is excellent.
Under Elinor Goodman, the political analysis was second only to Newsnight. I'm yet to decide whether Cathy Newman (formerly of the FT) will perform as pol correspondent to my satisfaction. Liam Halligan managed to make even economics vaguely watchable, and Faisal Islam is a great young talent.
Also, I quite fancy Darshna Soni.

Well, we used to have pages and pages discussing how Samira span in her chair at the end of the programme. I think she's hidden behind a desk now!
The afternoon previews are always very good - either using fantastic views of the atrium (and you can't beat the real view!) - or doing something highly sarcastic.
Anyone watched Snowmail on More4 on Saturdays. I've seen one - kind of like Jon Snow's weekly Alternative Queen's speech!

so we did. I could bring it back from the dead if there's demand.
Until then, enjo a dizzy-o-meter rating of 6 for mentioning it.

Ah, but you'd have to redesign that with the new C4 logo...
I do enjoy Channel 4 News - it's not quite as heavy as. say, The World, and knows when it doesn't need to take itself too seriously. Plus, for such a minimalist set, it oozes style, and they use the studio space well.

I think it was on MediaGuardian the other day - but it's quite surprising how important C4 News is too Channel 4.
While Big Brother is the most important programme on the channel, bringing in 5.5% of the channels ratings (compared to 9.8% for Corrie on ITV1, and far less important than EastEnders on BBC1 and CSI on Five), Channel 4 News is surprisingly not far behind, bringing in 4% of the channels ratings.
So it appears that hovering around the million mark each night may not seem much - but over the year it's a very important part to the C4 schedule.
No idea unfortunately what the figures are for the news on BBC, ITV or Five.
I don't know how the bulletin rates at lunchtime, but IMO the C4 News at Noon is by far the best lunchtime bulletin.
