That's really interesting that it's that old - I thought it was as I can't remember it ever being anything else, and it has a certain 80s edge to it.
Wasn't it spiced up a bit with the relaunch? - a bit more oomph was added which works very well.
What reflects much of this programme's quality production values is the huge in-studio 16:9 monitor, which despite its proportions displays a proper 4:3 image; the remaining part neatly filled with an appropriate graphic - a nice touch and conveys their close attention to detail.

It looked like it, as the backdrop was the same as the one seen on BBC Newsline, though it has been mentioned before that ITN don't use ITV studios for first choice, they can use the BBC's, such as BBC NI and I believe South West too these being infavour of UTV and Westcountry.
