Which US show leads in the ratings?
CH
CBS This Morning, however, is the only show that's actually attracting new viewers. GMA and the Today show are more or less just swapping viewers back and forth.
I haven't really watched much of British morning TV in a while, but my understanding is that Good Morning Britain was generally trying to be copy of the Today show format. A shame, as I think the CBS format would work really well in the UK. It's serious and reflective with the ability to do lighter cultural features in a way that really makes the show stand out from their circus-y competition.

Which US programme would that be ? I was in the states last month, and all the breakfast shows I saw were
more like The One Show, than Today or C4 News.
Really? Please take a look at this montage of CBS This Morning and let us know if it reminds you of The One Show:

I think you should move to 1989.
Why can't the UK have intelligent inspirational breakfast TV like the US or of the same standard of Radio 4's Today programme. Channel 4 tried an intelligent approach to news a long time ago with the Channel 4 Daily which didn't really work because it was a righ mish mash of content with about 15 presenters. Isn't it time thertefore that Channel 4 in defense of its public ownership and public service remit brought back some serious Channel 4 News at Breakfast?
I think you should move to 1989.

In the days of Channel 4 Radio, they did have the Morning Report which was a pretty solid breakfast (radio) news bulletin.

Well, they couldn't even manage to fill all 2 mins of that montage with samples of news coverage from the show, which says it all really. All three main US breakfast shows, are the televisual equivalent of non demanding, non offensive, polite small talk, with the usual myopic American view of the world.
As I say, they are more akin to The One Show and ITV's This Morning, with a bit of carefully sanitised news sprinkled in. Most of the news content is provided by the local station opt outs.

They replaced whatever there was with C4 News (in exactly the same style as the evening programme) for a couple of weeks straight after 9/11, but as Mr London Lite says up thread, despite over thirty years of breakfast TV, radio still dwarfs its audience in the UK. And actually the majority don't want hard news at that time of the day, hence the popularity of Radio 1, 2, and countless music and banter based commercial radio shows. (Even a misery guts such as myself listens to Chris Evans on the way to work, and I will laugh out loud at something on there once a day on average)

I LOVED the Channel Four Daily!
I loved the ITN News presented from London, Tokyo (Sonia Ruseler at the time was FIT lol) & Washington. In the days when ITN still had a full bureau in Tokyo lol
