Why can't the UK have intelligent inspirational breakfast TV like the US or of the same standard of Radio 4's Today programme. Channel 4 tried an intelligent approach to news a long time ago with the Channel 4 Daily which didn't really work because it was a righ mish mash of content with about 15 presenters. Isn't it time thertefore that Channel 4 in defense of its public ownership and public service remit brought back some serious Channel 4 News at Breakfast?
Why can't the UK have intelligent inspirational breakfast TV like the US ...
Which US programme would that be ? I was in the states last month, and all the breakfast shows I saw were
more like The One Show, than Today or C4 News.

I've seen clips of NBC's Good Morning America for example it may not be "intelligent" but it's certainly upscale and more inspirational than what is served up in the UK

Ha, now you are having a laugh. A studio with a (no doubt) carefully selected rentamob of housewives and (harmless) social misfits outside waving placards with 'Hello Mom' in shot , while the team of dentally enhanced presenters relay the latest coast to coast news of joyriding teenagers captured by news choppers, and little Johnny from some small town who's found 5000 dollars stuffed into a pumpkin, while there's barely no mention of things like Syria, migrants, crashed Russian civilian airliners, or anything happening in Africa or the Far East.

Well it' s a cultural thing sure but US breakfast tv is more ambitious than ours and more watched.
The UK has a serious news breakfast show, it's called Today on BBC Radio 4. Radio dominates breakfast time, with Chris Evans having over 9m listeners on Radio 2. with Today dominating in London. Breakfast and GMB have a minute audience in comparison.
