Central's seatings are curved down on the sides.. and looks really strange. Looking at the images in the topic - as I am in Tyne Tees [North] area myself.

yes you are right, but thats because the backs of them have been tilted forward, from like this / to |, so you see a bigger curve at the top, yet none at the bottom, and thats the problem.

I love the ITV Wales backdrop but only when its dark.

I wish they would use the backdrop on the GMTV and late bulletins instead of having them from that small studio - most of the other regions use their backdrops.

Cool ITV West's looks like Tyne Tees and London, unlike Central. Which looks bland and tasteless Embarassed

And yet Dan Barton says they look exactly the same.

I can't see the difference in the seating of Central and Wales, though the lights of the two studios seems as though Wales never adopted the teal colour scheme. Or perhaps it's the fact that Central took it too far from the blue and made it too green.

Maybe you should send photographic evidence to him in reply, and point out the differences.

I have got admit, you need to look closely though Confused

There is a striking difference between those two studios!!! I am used to watching Wales Tonight and so that appears 'normal' to me but that Central studio looks totally awful in comparison. There does seem to be too much teal in Central's whereas Wales only contains hints of teal!

I wonder which one is correct?

Here is an image before the seats got swapped with Central East, and the lighting was much better:

Compare the softness of those seats to the ones now.

Give them some credit at Central!!!

I personally cannot see much difference in the set apart from the lighting is a little different...that could be down to the picture however when I switch over on sky to a different region the lighting looks the same!

You have to remember that after London Tonight, Central News got their London Tonight style studio first! So technically its the oldest ITV regional news studio outside London.

Also Central has always been the poor ITV relation since it was took over by Carlton. Central might as well not exist in the eyes of ITV !!!!!

Yes - that is because the lighting (and camera racking by the look of it) is better on the Wales set. (I watched Central News West off-air for a few weeks earlier this year - and it was far from great technically)

The Central set looks far smaller (so key lights hit the set) - and I wouldn't be surprised if it was close to a fixed plot, with few lighting changes to cater for the different requirements of the programme.
