Just a little mention from the soon to be gone region but does anyone know why Central News South came from one of the Birmingham studios with Mark Lipscomb today? I say that because it was extremely obvious it was Birmingham because of the animated backdrop, 'ITV Central' light as opposed to our usual 'Central News' light, and the complete drabness of the worn set compared to our fresh, newer one.

You can say that again. South's set is spectacular compared to Wests. Very Happy

Just looked, its in CNE, West's looks even worser than that!

Central West really need to sort out their studio now. They need to:

- Get new chairs, as used by every region except CW and CE
(or sort out the current ones)
- Sort out lighting, too washed out. Need more colour, and floor lighting needs to be changed, the blue is wrong, and huge parts of the platform are yellow-white. (Londons floor is perfect)
- The general lighting of the whole studio needs reviewing, somedays its bright, and most days its dull.

The backdrop is finally sorted with that nice view of the Bullring.

Hey Guys,
I havent posted in a while, but I have been reading messages.

I have seen the photos of Centrals studio in this topic, and it looks awful. They should get similar seats to Tyne Tees and London, they look much better. The brightness in the studio lighting should be in the middle, and behind the two plasmas the wall colour should be yellow. With the rest being a blue and teal type colour. They should get this sorted and take some ideas from Tyne Tees and London.

Also have any other regions had their table made bigger in the studio? ITV Tyne Tees did when they started doing split versions.

Many Thanks,
Andrew

I have emailed Central about their studio a number of times, but don't seem interested. I just don't know why they are not doing anything about it. I have also emailed ITV, and they said they sent it to ITV Central.

I prefer Central's smaller table. The big ones look out of place and too high.

Maybe some more on here should e-mail Central, as they probably don't listen to me anymore.

The whole studio floor is lit, yet as you say only the middle should be lit, so the colour on the walls and floor stand out more. They have seperate lights on when they stand at the plasma anyway, so thats no excuse.

The problem with ITV regional news lighting is they don't have people who are specialised in lighting (or much else) to sort it. London's is perfect because ITN employ proper specialised staff in all areas than 'jacks of all trades and masters of none'.

Keeps CentralWest off the streets Wink

Although CW is right, the lighting is dreadful on CNW. CNE are only slightly better; it always looks brighter when they have the Nottingham backdrop rather than the grey Leicester one, it's amazing how much difference that makes!

Speaking of CNS, do we know for certain when the last edition of Central South is? I've heard some say December, some say January and some folk say end of November? Confused

I have finally had an email back of Dan Barton.

Quote:
Thank you for your email to ITV's duty office.

I can't accept what you say about the Central West studio except about the lighting. Very soon we shall be overhauling the lighting rig to improve the service.

However the set - including the benches etc - are exactly the same as every other ITV News operation so I don't see your complaint.
However I'm always happy to hear from viewers so please keep in touch.

Best wishes

Central's seatings are curved down on the sides.. and looks really strange. Looking at the images in the topic - as I am in Tyne Tees [North] area myself.
