Yes, another revised backdrop for Central Tonight West. This time it has the BT tower, and the picture quality has improved again! Doesn't look too much worse than Londons now. Looks brilliant.

So far this year, Gas Street, Birmingham 1, Birmingham 2(close), and now Birmingham 3 (with BT Tower).

All other bulletins today used the normal.

The programme has significantly improved over the past few weeks. Much more interesting camera angles, and use of the studio.

A new editor perhaps? I heard a rumour that Dan Barton was on his way out Confused ?

Since the projector was introduced at Central, CNE have only had two ever backdrops: Nottingham (day/night) and Leicester (day/night). The latter is used less frequently than the former.

Wonder why CNW keeps changing it backdrop?

I hope so.

I think they keep changing it, because the Gas Street one was no good at night. Then from January, the new birmingham was bad quality and was winter. They updated it to a summery one with the updated rotunda under construction. (Two versions of this - although one version was phased out a few weeks later).

And now this one, best so far.

Thanks for those-- great colouring in the sky.

I take it you're not a fan of Dan Barton-- I hear he allegedly was in a bit of bother recently Confused:

Do they use any other backdrops other than the B'ham one ^?

The CNE backdrop one of Nottingham is picturesque and sunny (looks pretty at night); but the Leicester one is very grey and grim, even the daytime one.

Only Brum, thank god, I hate it when other regions use different ones, no conistency.

I liked Dan Barton when he first joined, as he created one of the best looks for CN in 2001. But since this corporate look, presenation has gone down hill. Up until a few weeks ago.

Also notice on the new backdrop - the old Bullring, looks like before reconstruction, so they have probably recorded this late last year before the "January backdrop" It certainly has not been done when the January versions were recorded, as they had a slightly different view, and worser quality.

Strange...

It's nice, but the pink sky clashes with the green.

Pretty. Pleasant to look at, or attractive or charming in a delicate way.

Purty.

Howdy partner! Purty, is an quaint mid-west/deep-south Americanism for pretty I think.

CentralWest, do think CNW's editorial improved when Dan Barton took charge? He recall when he transfer from Nottingham he took several presenters with him: Jonathan Ray (now Head of PR at Uni of Nottm), Sarah-Jane Mee and Llewlla (sp?) Bailey-- so he can't have been that unpopular!
