I wonder whether CNwest will bother updating their full-length titles, to include at least one Herefordshire clip?

The existing titles seem quite Birmingham-centric to me. I don't recognise where all of the clips in the titles were filmed, but there's definately a plural number of Birmingham ones (Bullring, Spaghetti Junction, Symphony Hall...) and seemingly only "token" representation of the region's other counties. Hopefully, at least one Brum clip will be sacrificed to make way for Herefordshire, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't bother...

Ditto, The West Today - have they bothered adding any northern Gloucestershire clips to their titles?

Neither CNwest nor ITV West would necessarily have to bother going out to film clips of their new areas. Presumably there's existing clips from the CNsouth titles, that can be re-used? So, there's no excuse for them to not bother, IMHO!

Similarly, I bet that Thames Valley Tonight's titles will use a mixture of some ex-CNsouth and ex-MeridianWest titles clips, rather than bothering to film new ones...

Obviously, I know nothing of Wesley Smith's private life - what with it being, er, private...

But, it seems reasonable to assume that he must have a family etc, all of whom are presumably well settled in the Abingdon area.

I can't imagine long-term, Mr Smith being willing to either (A) commute between Abingdon and Whitley all the time, or (B) uproot his family and move to Whitley.

Therefore, it'll be interesting to see whether he "does a Marie Ashby", (i.e. only sticks around at TVT for merely months and then defects to BBC Oxford!)

And, if any such defection is timed to co-incide with BBC Oxford finally fully breaking-away from South Today, Wesley will have the unique status of being the "at-launch" anchor of both BBC Thames Valley & ITV Thames Valley!!! Cool

I'll reckon he'll defect to BBC, then replace Bob Warman when (or if! Wink ) he retires!

I don't think they are allowed to do "as live" bulletins BTW, I seem to recall CNE getting fined for doing a CNE late bulletin in that fashion not so long ago.

No-one's suggesting the CNS bulletin wasn't live - only the insert from Wesley Smith in one of the Whiteley studios.

Yes, I tuned in at 6.35 especially to see the new Thames Valley service and found Chris James, whos autocue was down and he ended up cutting the bulletin very short and the GMTV 'Continues Shortly' caption appeared for ages.

His voice also went out over the GMTV slide saying "What do you want me to say?" (!)

Was someone late in this morning?

Is Central the only region to have food on the desk during the GMTV bulletins? Gives it more of a breakfast affect I suppose...

Well advent (and Yuletide?) does start on December 1st-- December is the month of Christmas. CNE have got its Christmas tree up, and most people I know have now put their Christmas tree up now Shocked

Oh well, least they're not as bad as shops advertising Christmas stock in August! Laughing
