Indeed, (ITV Central) hats off to Wes - he never misses an opportunity for a bit of TV pres anorakiness! I've still got on VHS somewhere a 10th Anniversary of Central News package from 1992 he did, complete with ATV ident, original Central News ident and various bits of titles from across the years
IIRC he also had a big hand in the excellent Central ITV50 programme from last year.

A fun-packed Central News South tonight. Always nice to watch a true anorak, I mean professional at work... Wesley Smith, please stand up, you're bound to lurk here with the rest of us!
A new air route (!) between Oxford and Cambridge has launched - cue a 2-way between Wes and Anglia Tonight's Tim Curtis on the merits of their respective cities. Naturally that turned into an Oxbridge bun-fight.
Then some story on hats - our Wes sporting a frankly diabolical "ITV Central" hat. Come on Wes, bonus points had it been the Central cake!
Finally, he was telling us to stay tuned for "our new look" after the weather, sure enough Wes and Hannah perched in their new studio (ITV regional news with green lighting) and bus stop bench talking up their new look on Monday. All topped with a look at the ITV Central News logo.
Bless you Wes...

Another quick plug for the new look - "tying it in with ITV studios nationwide and the main national news studio in London"

Loving the teal colour, makes a nice change from so much blue.

Isnt it amazing how much a colour and new backing image makes such a huge difference. It seems more professional than the previous one, and not much has changed.

I think it looks very very well indeed It is amazing that how a slight colour alteration can change a set so much. And the titles look amazing in still form; hope I am not let down by the video form

According to those screen caps, there is no view behind the presenters. Is this just for Central South or for the rest of the Regions.
Granada, London, Westcountry and the others who have views behind them, look very good.
It would seem stupid to get rid of the City Background.

I was going to ask that too. I wouldn't have thought they would get rid of the city backdrop, it wouldn't look as good. And after all the time taken by most of the regions to film backdrops etc. Maybe CN South are just keeping a city backdrop as some sort of surprise for the viewers.

I know for Westcountry Live, they had to specially erect floodlights on to the Tamar Bridge to record the night time shot, it seems strange to change it so soon afterwards.
I like the City Backdrop, London Tonight probably wouldn't be the same without their backdrop, they have always had it, even when they were based at the South Bank.
