Only seen the morning bullys so far, but looks as though the last English region is about to get the new generic set, just in time for christmas. the opening of the bulletins went straight to a close up of hannah, rather than a wide shot. the picture behind hannah was rather darker.
Considering that CNwest were the very first non-London ITVplc region to convert to the proper generic set, I expected that all versions of Central News would be fairly quick to have the set change. Clearly, CNeast's set change was always gonna be dependant on when the relocation to Brum could happen. But I am really surprised that CNsouth is the very last ITVplc region to convert.
If you'd have asked me, say, 18 months ago, I'd have bet money on Border and/or ITV West being last.
It does seem a bit odd that CNSouth are going to be the last region to go ITV Generic Style considering that CNWest have had the Generic set for around 15 months now. And CNEast followed shortly after that.
Plus, it means like Border and Anglia, they will only have the current Generic Look for 3-4 weeks before its all changed again!! Does anyone have an idea on what the Generic Changes are going to be...is it just going to be some colour-tweaking or are we talking about a full change here?

I think if you use your common sense here you know the answer!

Look at the BBC, when they changed out of the 'map' titles, the sets hardly changed. I expect the ITV regional sets will be identical except for a new image on the plasma. There's no reason why it should be any different.

Do we really want any big changes?
The current look is good even though I initially disagreed with a corporate look.
New Titles are all that is needed and a possible different image on the Plasma.
It could be possible that we might be having the generic set as soon as next week. They're out all week at different hospitals so it's possible they're fitting the generic set now.
From what I've seen of Central News (South), they've been camped at the soft area of the news studio, as opposed to using both the desk and the soft area. So I'm assuming that's the case about where they've been, but Wesley & Hannah have been around and about while another anchor has read the serious stuff from the soft area.

exactly. And then when they did change it consisted of tinkering with the panels to make them a bit more red. It's odd that since then the BBC seems to have given the regions more freedom which has resulted in such gems and the News Cafe and Carol M*lia's Great North Run.
Is ITV News meant to be staying blue?
I'm under the impresion the blue walls are snazzy light things so could they just change the entire set with flick of a switch?

Indeed. As this photo of the Border/Lookaround set proves...
... the generic sets are in fact completely white/neutral. The blue is entirely achieved with coloured lighting. Some regions re-use their news sets for non-news regional programmes (e.g. Soccer Night), simply by changing the logo on the side plasmas, the backdrop on the "window"/projector, and the colour of the lighting on the walls.
As far as we know, ITV news will be staying blue after Jan 16th. But, if it isn't, it can indeed be changed at the flick of a switch, rather than having to physically change the set again.
