Checked the transponders during the local news earlier.
There's an extra channel for Scottish, but currently faulty; a channel for Central, currently duplicating the west service; and a channel for Anglia, currently duplicating the existing.
I passed the question up the chain of gossip to see whether STV are going to embark in sub-opts (as they used to years ago when Sheena MacDonald fronted Scotland Today).
I will of course dissemble the answer when it is forthcoming.
There is a joker in the pack re the Scottish "split" - the Haddington repeater is a relay of Black Hill and so carries Scottish (West).
Looking at the coverage map of Craigkelly, I'm sure it WOULD be possible for Haddington to relay Craigkelly rather than Black Hill.
Would the valley blot it out though? Radio and TV reception from Craigkelly is patchy in the Haddington area, hence the TV mast being fed from Black Hill.
SMG went to ofcom some time ago, along with ITN, to propose a pretty radical overhaul of its news output. Basically, the idea was that Scotland Today at 6pm would split at some point (like the Sheena days) with Edinburgh and the East having its own opt. Then at 1030 Scotland, including Grampian and, possibly, Border Scotland would have their own dedicated Scottish news programme, presented from London (stupid, I know). So it looks like they're going ahead with is. They certainly wouldn't create a Scottish East on Sky for ads only as microregional ads just wouldn't pay for the cost of an additional channel
So did Central News East and South appear as reported on Monday? I don't have access to Sky here. Has the Sky EPG consequently changed to "ITV1 Central W" or something, for those in the West?
AFAIK they haven't launched yet. I don't think they were ever scheduled to start on Monday, although a lot seemed to take "week commencing 13th June" as being "Monday 13th June" itself. Rumour has it they'll launch on Thursday.
Latest (RUMOUR again) that I've heard is that Aquafresh, or whatever the stupid new name for No Transmissions Limited is, can't organise a local end into Abingdon to pick up the south service.
